Death by cholesterol ! Cool Hand Luke 1967 is a great film. Our family saw the film at the Hi-Way 39 drive-in (Westminster, CA) back in the day. This scene and several others were quite memorable. Strother Martin as the warden putting the chain gain to work and telling Luke and the others “what we got here is failure to communicate”. Or the scene with the voluptuous Joy Harmon washing her car as the great George C Scott’s character hopes the button on her straining blouse would pop on his Lucille !, freeing her breasts from their confinement. When we saw the film my grandmother exclaimed,”her blouse better NOT pop or we’re outa here” ! :) -Rj
Great movie. We recently rewatched it and it holds up well. Still think the Academy robbed him; he should have WON Best Actor. The problem is that I also thought Rod Steiger in In The Heat of the Night was also deserved it.
Hi Rick,
ReplyDeleteYou make me want to watch this movie again!
Just thinking about that scene makes me want to hurl. LOL
