What is it with this delusional obsession to live a long life and all the while living in fear of a future judgment by an unseen force that will either send you romping into the clouds with fluffy bunny rabbits and puppies and kitties and your relatives or send you crashing down into the fiery bowels of the earth, burning in the magma for an eternity(however long that may be?
ReplyDeleteWhen the sane person eventually sees the absurdity of this belief system, they are surprised how much easier life becomes. Not living with the fear of the unknown brings a peace they never felt before. Life is lived day by day, to make the best of whatever comes. And when they run out of days to be the best they can be, they die. We all die. Period. The end of consciousness. No coming back, no going forward.
It's a good thing once they realize that life has limits and the importance of living life with these goals: Be kind to and respect one another, do no harm, help where help is needed, use common sense and good judgment, ask important questions and help find the answers and finally, enjoy yourselves.
If you still find you need a faith-based leader, consider yourself for that job or choose wisely the person you will follow. They may have something else in mind for you other than eternal salvation.
Solely my opinion, prove me wrong. I was a member of the flock most of my life and I haven't seen anyone return from the dead, not even the heavenly father or his son, and tell me what I believe now is wrong. I'll live my life to the fullest and take my chances. And I'll see you in...well...nowhere!
In the rabbit god/duck god cartoon, shouldn't all the banners in the background army have rabbits on them?
ReplyDeleteMilleson - Hear, hear!
ReplyDeleteAnon@3:30pm - Look closer. It's like that illusion that asks which you see first, a rabbit or a duck. While they appear the same (and they are) the difference is what you want to see.
