SS authorities establish the Auschwitz concentration camp, the largest of its kind established by the Nazi regime. It included three main camps, all of which deployed incarcerated prisoners at forced labor. One of them also functioned for an extended period as a killing center.

  2. Heartbreaking reality. Human beings are frequently the very worst.

  3. (He said sarcastically): Oh c'mon Ricko, why do you persist in printing these pictures and perpetuating the myth that any of this really happened? You know all of these photos are staged, using actors at some movie studio, similar to the moon landing ruse. And all to garner sympathy and support for those Jews who didn't deserve to exist.

(He said empathetically): Look again my friends. Look again into the faces and eyes of the men, women and children whose lives were irrevocably changed forever. Look again and see the fear, confusion, the not knowing what was happening and what was to be. There aren't just the Jews here, look again and see the pink triangles sewn on the striped pajamas of our gay brothers and other LGBTQ cohorts. This happened, this was real and is a terrifying reminder that it can and will happen again if we continue on this path and allow another devious and cunning dick-tator to gain power. This isn't fearmongering, this is simply a fact that any person with an iota of brain power remaining can see. The quote from then and a clarion call for our time: "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it." Winston Churchill, 1948 but earlier stated by George Santayana in his 1905 work, The Life of Reason: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Notice that word "reason"? That along with common sense, free thought, knowledge, education and sanity are attributes sorely lacking in far too many of our population who vote. Those who turn a blind eye to the obvious and vote out of loyalty to a party whose only purpose is to benefit the few and enslave the many. This simply cannot happen again.

  5. If someone, especially a German, says that they (the people) didn't know what was happening to the Jews, you call them a liar right then and there.

    1. The German civilian living at that time may not known about Auschwitz or Treblinka ( inside occupied Poland ) but they definitely knew about Dachau by Munich and Buchenwald by Weimar and Oranienburg by Berlin. Not to mention many being willful participants in terrorizing their Jewish neighbors. The concentration camps were as well known in Germany as Sing Sing and Alcatraz prisons were in America. The mistreatment, executions and horrible conditions of those concentration camps was well publicized in Germany in the 1930s through newspapers and newsreels. Willful ignorance got Germans nowhere but the hell of air raids on their cities and land battles in Germany itself and the death of their own people. -Rj

  6. Oh yes, the Holocaust deniers of the world, you know they hate being confronted by the truth that kills their narrative of lies. They might as well say WW2 never happened ! And they’re willfully ignorant enough to believe that next .:(
Don’t forget Hitler’s first concentration camps (Dachau, Sachsenhausen, Oranienburg, Buchenwald) were built to incarcerate his political enemies of all stripes, communists, socialists, anarchists, monarchists, moderates, even conservatives and other right wing nationalists. And don’t let the right of today get away with painting socialists as Nazi’s, their leaders were among Hitler’s first victims.( the fascist nazis put socialist in their title to attract working class voters) Hitler and his Nazi’s wanted to annihilate the Jews, and they would not have stopped there, for their ideology requires scapegoats. Eventually every non German would have become fodder for the murderous lunacy of Nazism. Auschwitz, Treblinka and other death camps would have been just the beginning.:( These Holocaust deniers and right wing revisionists of history piss on the graves of American and Allied soldiers and their memory, and once again victimize the innocents killed in the Holocaust and WW2.

  9. Rick, I went looking for that 60 Minutes episode re: Auschwitz staff's photos of themselves at leisure, and it was *superb*, very moving -- and is really a must-see. Here's the YouTube link:
