  3. When "auto carnage" became important in the middle 1950s, Ford Motor Co started advertising their research on automotive safety. Seat belts, stronger door latches, padded instrument panels, and deep-dish steering wheels resulted. In order to get a drivers license, the public schools provided courses in the summers, with local car dealers supplying the cars (aided by factory programs for such). When the NRA was in its earlier version back pre-1070s, if you went through an NRA-sanctioned gun safety course, that was the "Gold Standard" of such.

In current times, "driver education" has been privatized and has become an online course. It seems the NRA has become more about gun ownership than gun safety.

Buying guns "for sport" has never been an issue, it seems. As it also seems that several "disconnects" occur with gun owners and safe storage of such in their residence, especially when children are around.

Gun registration needs to happen, just like vehicle registration for vehicles used in the public spaces. Guns "for sport" would be registered as such, yet guns registered for "daily use" would be also. Showing such licenses when purchasing ammo could be in the mix, too. Let gun owners, all gun owners, be responsible for their guns and use thereof.

There ARE solutions to gun violence out there, just that many block them out of seeming paranoia on various levels. A paranoia that the NRA seems to support as it means more gun sales, which should mean more NRA members.

  4. As Xersex said, no.3 is the same here in Canada.
NO AR-15 mass shooting type weapons are NOT allowed here.
We have a very meticulous guns law to prevent the sale and ownnership of such deadly weapons.

Sure that some are purchasing them illegally and guess, they come from USA crossing our border from a native reserve near Montreal.

We have a mafia-Hell Angels war but they use more rifles or hand guns.
Not much mass shootings up here.

  6. That last one. Period. Common sense tells you that our gun laws are dangerous... yet, they are supported by the GOP because they get kickbacks from the gun industry. It's stupid. Reckless. And bad government.

  7. obviously there is someone who holds weapons illegally. Even though in Italy one must have a special permit to own a weapon (called a gun license) which is always revocable, Italy cannot teach anything. After all, mafia is an Italian word.
