She was just brilliant.

ReplyDeleteI must admit I never knew her name. But if I was watching a movie or a TV sitcom and she was on, I would say, she looks like the actress that played the mother of Carrie (in the original one, which was the best one. I was watching an episode of the old W&G and she was a guest star with Orson Bean.
May she rest in peace.
I love that quit Hollywood as she waited for decent scripts to come along.
ReplyDeleteThe sad part of her career (to me) is that the studios (for whatever reason) GAVE her the name Piper Laurie, and she HATED it. Why couldn't they have just turned it around and made her Laurie Piper?
ReplyDeleteLooking at the photographs of Piper Laurie when she had aged so dramatically reminded me of a profound statement made by the late Queen Elizabeth II - "none of us can slow the passage of time..." and its inevitable effects (good and otherwise). PERGE!
ReplyDeletePurpleWolf - Your selection sounds more reasonable.
ReplyDeletePerge! - Yep. None of us can escape aging.
A magnificent original of unlimited and largely untapped talent. I adored her and will miss her bright presence.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this tribute, Rick.
Jimbo - You are welcome.
