D'accord. Your percentages are pretty much spot on. The problem is, the 30% have such loud mouths that they out-shout the 70%. On top of that, our stinking media treat them as "normal," and treat their sick message as normal, in the name of "fairness."
As I sit on my front porch this morning, enjoying a second cup of coffee, my flag stirring slightly in the morning breeze, I wonder if these Un-United States of America will become the Re-United States Of America in my lifetime.
And I wonder how one ugly, lying, hateful, poor excuse for a patriot was able to do so much damage to our country in 8 years. As a meme on another blog said, it's very apparent how Jim Jones was able to convince his followers that drinking the Kool-Aid was a good idea. I'm sorry and angry, but the saying goes that if we don't learn from the past, we are doomed to repeat it. Well here's one story in history that if repeated, would have been nice and solved many of the problems we face today. I know that's harsh, but the pig almost had his people considering injecting bleach to cure the COVID. Do you recall that press conference? I'm sure you do.
My flag has become very important to me since my 8 years in the Navy, I was proud of my service as a closeted gay man. I fly my flag from sunrise to sunset daily, and was repulsed beyond belief when #45 grabbed, groped and fondled our Stars and Stripes at another press conference that I'm sure you remember, too. What a vulgar display of false patriotism from a leader of our country. I am thankful that gay men and women can serve openly in service to the country, still with many problems to be addressed, but it's one more step to equal rights for all of us.
Yes, I have doubts as to the outcome of this divisive time in which we live, but I also have great joy that I will be celebrating this Independence Day with family and friends; gay, straight, other, in a city where there is mostly tolerance and understanding for the human condition. Oh, the haters are here, too, but in small numbers and their hateful activities are rare. So however you choose to live this day, have faith(not in a religious sense) that as someone stated in a comment above, there are 30% of them but 70% of us and like-minded people who know what needs to be done in the next election cycle and will start the process of turning around this country in which we all once took pride. I believe the true heart America is here, we just need to make our presence known and shown.
Here's hoping our America will reset soon and see better days. LOVE TO ALL!
Happy 4th of July to all. Thank you very much for your service to our country Milleson. What a wonderful written piece.
I just don't understand war at all. I mean I read the papers, but really how could this country seem to go down so fast?
I decorate my windows at home for every holiday, not extravagant at all. Like for the 4th of July, it's just blinking red, white, and blue lights on a small artificial Christmas tree. Memorial day a flag bow, bordered my clear lights. Halloween, I do more, lit pumpkins in almost every window, with a few scary do-dads. Valentine's day, lit red hearts. Well you guys get the picture.
For all their "patriotism," the fuckers are no more patriotic than they are Christian. They are utterly revolting Pharisees...hypocrites to the max. I'd tell them to suck my dick, but they'd probably leave teethnmarks.
My patriotism is at very low ebb. I don't think we do have a country. Fuck every Nazipublican on every level.
ReplyDeleteIn these days of turmoil in USA, hope that REAL sensitive Americans will celebrat your Independence Day.
ReplyDeleteMaybe 30% are in a cult but 70% are in the real spirit of the American spirit of Liberty and freedom for all.

ReplyDeleteRight you are! If idiots like MTG, Gaetz, Cheeto, Bannon, et al get their way, this could be one of the last.
