Isnt that pitchlady Bess Meyerson??
ReplyDeleteYes it is, jsstrand, Miss America of 1945, of note because she was the first winner of Jewish descent. She catapulted her win into a lucrative advertising career in early television. I always think of Bess and actress Betty Furness as sisters of a sort because Betty was the pitchlady for Westinghouse and ended her spiel with, "You can be sure if it's Westinghouse." Aah, those happy, innocent days of television advertising.
ReplyDeleteBeth Meyerson all was a regular on "I've Got a Secret" hosted by Gary Moore.
ReplyDeleteMore elaborated than the Frigidaire I remember from my childhood.
ReplyDeleteSo glamour - yes the ladies have something to do with that - I want to find a fully functional one at an antics shop!
Wait... Did I just relate a Frigidaire as "glamour"?
ReplyDeleteOh My!
We moved into a new house when we moved to texas in 1955 - it had a yellow 3 door wall hung General Electric refrigerator - quite the futuristic item in 1955 - we moved to st louis in 1958 so I've often wondered how long it lasted and what it took to service it - lol
ReplyDeletejsstrand - Yellow is one of my favorite colors.
ReplyDeleteMust be a Catholic household. And you just know that Timmy wanted tap shoes for Xmas.
ReplyDeleteWe still call ours a "Frigidare"!
ReplyDeleteSome of those things should be reintroduced --- like the slide out shelves. LOL
