I really dislike these kinds of headlines...
Asteroid the size of 35 chickens to pass Earth on Saturday - NASA
Asteroid the size of 100 hot dogs to pass Earth on Monday - NASA
The Biggest Diamond Ever Found Weighed The Same As 7,692 Bees
(I did not bother to link to any of them.)
Those headlines are click-bait.
ReplyDeletePat - Sheesh, I never thought of that.
ReplyDeleteMaybe NASA is going down to tell the low educated people in USA how big are those things.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
I always found the American ways of comparing actual sizes/weights etc to the most ordinary everyday things so absurd. Each time the same thought comes to my mind: maybe that's the price to pay for not adopting and wide spreading the use of the metric system.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course you are right JiEL: the way it speaks to low educated people.
A bit of Lennon's humour: Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire. Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall...

ReplyDeleteAh the good old days when you saw headlines like this in the Star or Enquirer!!..LMAO!!
LOL... Click bait. NEVER. Such an utter waste of time.
