Tulsa Race Massacre
During the Tulsa Race Massacre, which occurred over 18 hours from May 31 to June 1, 1921, a white mob attacked residents, homes and businesses in the predominantly Black Greenwood neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event remains one of the worst incidents of racial violence in U.S. history, and, for a period, remained one of the least-known: News reports were largely squelched, despite the fact that hundreds of people were killed and thousands left homeless.

ReplyDeleteShame, Shame, Shame, on humanity!!! I will watch the video tomorrow, I don't think I want to watch something so shameful. Oh and again I don't understand life at all sometimes.
Scott - You ain't alone.
ReplyDeleteThanks for remembering, Rick.
ReplyDeleteYes, THANKS for remembering, Rick! I suspect the reason the Greenwood event was not in the news was that it didn't affect "white people", plain and simple. IF there was a fire in Greenwood, as many could see, it was not about "white people", when it was "white people" who did that deadly deal. "Somebody had to put those black people in their place", some whites probably said, back then. Interesting that we did progress from that, but Trump took us back to it.
ReplyDeleteAnd... you should see what Minneapolis did to the Rondo Neighborhood... a different kind of terrorism... but genocide, all the same.
ReplyDeletehsgisme & Cdadbr - You're both welcome.
ReplyDeleteUpton - They did that sort of thing here, too.
