Aaaaaah, a time in the evolution of the American automobile when the sky was the limit when it can to styling and design. And they were offered in great colors. From 1948 to 1956 the taillight assemblies on the Cadillacs remained basically the same, a small bump up on the rear fenders. In 1957 the fin started to take flight and reached its pinnacle, both literally and figuratively, in 1959 with fins that soared almost as high as the roofline. I always thought that those models should have been considered a lethal weapon and wondered how many bikers failed to see a Caddie stopped in traffic and impaled himself(not in a good way) on one of those menacing daggers! The flying fin trend continued for Cadillac through the 1960s and by the 70s had mostly faded into automobile styling history.
Great looking cars, no matter the color! The '61-'63 Cadillacs were the more refined, graceful, and tasteful "Rocket Ship Cadillacs", to me. Thanks for posting!
THE ne plus ultra of Cadillac design with the tailfins, fender skegs and the slim pillars of the pagoda roof with large window areas. A design never to be seen again thanks to the bean counters trumping the designers.
