ReplyDelete2 weeks ago I was feeling a little nostalgic for some comfort food from my youth. Because both my parents worked and my older sisters had married and moved on, it became my job at the age of 9 to have dinner ready for the three of us when the folks got home. I remembered a meal from that time so got my copy of the 1972 Better Home and Gardens and made "Company Creamed Tuna on Buttered Toast Points. Wow! The memory of those days came flooding back, a meal that used 1 can of tuna and served 4 to 6 people. Yup, we was poe. Not really but money was tight and many families like mine were on budgets in the 50s. A little peak at history for the younger gays, and maybe some of you older gents experienced a similar situation.
ReplyDeleteMilleson - Same with my family. I don't know how mom did it.

ReplyDeleteDu Mont, Magnavox, Stromberg-Carlson and Capehart were the other high-end TV set brands to have if you had the money. -Rj
