2023.0204.0011...

Is anyone having issues with their ability to access my blog?

I was just informed that Blogspot is requiring an account with them before you can view my blog.

I don't know what to do about it, sorry.

P.S. - I just did a Google search about this and found that it was initiated about a year ago but only now they're starting to enforce it.

What a pain!

  1. I'm not having an issue, Rick

  2. But when I hit the publish comment button, it gave me a Whoops, there's a problem, try refreshing, I went out of comments and then back in and my comment was there. Blogger must be having issues.

  3. Yes, I had this problem and then I figured it out, at least in my case, which may be similar to what others are experiencing. Too bad many are locked out and can't see this. I don't believe this is a Blogger problem. In my case it was a Google problem. It appears Blogger sites are controlled by Google, which decided to limit access to only those who have verified their age. When I clicked the usual Enter button it took me to a page about age verification, and lots of info about storing credit card info or official IDs, but no instructions about how to actually do this. I researched it and found out that plans for beginning to actually demand this verification were supposed to start this time last year! They actually started on Feb 1, this year. I am, of course, very reluctant to store this kind of personal info somewhere on Google. Continuing to troubleshoot, I noticed that I could enter Blogger sites on my phone. So what does my phone have that my laptop computer doesn't? Then it occurred to me that my Google account on my computer includes a default to my google account at work (I hate this but it's necessary). It turns out that my work google is not age verified, but my personal home account is. I ran into this a few years ago when Google kept prompting me to set up an age verification. It is simply a part of one's account settings to enter your birth date. I entered the correct day but not the correct year, as a way to hide my real personal info at least a little. So, when I access a Blogger site I make sure it opens in my personal Google account. Problem solved, at least for me. Others will want to check this out in their account settings. But how to reach them when they are on the other side of the wall???

  4. Interesting. I'm the one who contacted SickoRicko about the problem. I've been getting a button that says "sign in to confirm your age" before letting me view the blog, and I've gotten the same thing with a couple of other blogs that post sexually-explicit material. If others are not having the same problem, maybe it's some blogger glitch specific to me -- although I can hardly imagine how that would happen.

On the other hand, anyone who can't get in to see the blog can't see this post and comment on it.

But hopefully it really is just a glitch that doesn't affect most readers.

  5. Chris's comment sounds like what happened with me, except that all I need to do is sign in to my Blogspot account and I can see this blog. Maybe my account is age-verified, though I don't remember doing that.

Maybe this will be an ongoing problem after all, if it's a new Blogspot policy.

Ricko, the only thing I can suggest to do about this is to set up a new separate blog, and use the old one for the porn posts and the new one for the non-porn posts. Then at least the latter one will be visible even to people who don't have Blogspot accounts.

  6. Yes, the extra step showed up on Thursday.

  7. Not a problem here in the UK as yet?

  8. Chris In Seattle - Wow, what a workaround! Thanks for sharing how you went about it.

Infidel - Even before this current situation I've thought about two separate blogs. In fact, I have a non-porn blog on Tumblr that I don't do much with.

  9. No issue to access your blog.
Only the step to say I accept that your blog could have some adult contents.

    From Montreal Canada no problem.

  10. I haven't encountered the issue you describe, at least as of yet. But I expect it will shortly spread from US based connections to a worldwide policy.
To require a site-based account seems legit when it comes to accessing proprietary content, such as on Amazon Prime for example. But as for the freely distributed blogs content as on Blogger the simple as-is 'adult content' warning is sufficient enough.
But again, Google has has a history of some of their heads working - and implementing - the mysterious ways of their own...

  11. I have an account... but this may explain why readership on my blog suddenly went down significantly.

  12. Saturday 13:45 EST, I have not had this problem... Up to know!
Only that reCAPTCHA is asking for the standard test when posting anonymous

  13. Yep, I'm now required to Sign In (from Africa) - I do this with an existing Gmail acc. - annoying, but not the end of the world - this also happens on some other blogs - Google is watching ...

  14. I just checked Google Analytics for my blog, and my readership suddenly dropped by 30% in the last 4 days. Damn Google! -Larry

  15. I have not encountered it with any blogs I read yet...but sadly I do think it will affect traffic to those blogs. As Unashamed Male points out bu his readership dropping. People don't want extra steps.

The only problem I encounter with your blog is two things. 1- I sometimes can't get pass the adult disclaimer sticker and can't access your blog some days. Have no idea why. It just keeps popping back up once tapped. And 2- On days I do get into your blog I leave with a hard cock!

  16. @Mistress Maddie-I have encountered the same problem trying to get past the adult content page. Through trial and error I found that if the web address contains anything after the .com ending, if I delete everything from the forward slash on, it goes to the adult content page again and when I accept again, I get to the blog. Absolutely no idea why, but it may help.

Yes I had to get a goggle account for your blog Rick, and a couple of other blogs. It's really been a pain in the butt for me, only because I think I'm doing everything right, but then they say differently.

  21. Everyone - My partner Jerry just gave it a try. Even after finding his old Gmail account, they wanted all kinds of info that he didn't want to share with them.

  22. No issue here, but I *do* have a Google/Blogger account.

  23. Yes, I did! The last one I was able to read was January 31st. When I returned the next day to comment about a comment I made, I was denied. It asked me for a password, which I couldn't remember. So, I looked it up in my notebook of passwords and I was told it was wrong. So then I thought I would establish a new one and it wouldn't let me. I considered texting you but, decided that it was probably a firewall issue on my old and doddering laptop and that one of those malware scanners was to blame. Glad it wasn't!
I had been going to add that the model you featured on the 31st, Ambrose Olsen, was from Homer, Alaska, and was living in New York City when he died.

  24. At least I'll have the pleasure of catching up!
I was thinking of going to my computer guy and having my machine de googled and getting another browser on Monday!

  25. For what it's worth, I go thru the same rigamarole as Milleson at 2:32. I don't think I've ever been asked for age verification (though possibly it was required the first time I accessed this blog -- but never since).

And now that I scroll down to post this, I see that my user name is followed by "(Google Account)" and indicates that I'm signed in (i.e., it has a link for "Sign Out")

  26. Same anonymous February 04, 2023 10:49 AM

Sunday 2:46 EST (reporting from Europe), here still all is totally normal.
Only the reCAPTCHA is active when posting anonymous

Could be that this is a software problem in a Google regional server?
If all who encounter this problem reports the state or continent/country, maybe will help to identify if they use a common Google.

By the way I am a daily regular at Unashamed and Voenix and also accesimg them is is normal here.
Sicko and Jerry: don't worry, the regulars won't drop you!

  27. Hi Rick, no access problems from across the globe in Australia other that being recently pushed to an “age verification” page and needed to log in with my Google account , it’s only happened once so far.

PS, a big thank you for your daily updates, all your work and effort is always appreciated, your blog is the first I check out each night and this usually put me in a good place.

  31. I suspect Blogger will get an avalanche of complaints. Since most people who read blogs aren't bloggers themselves, and thus don't have Blogspot accounts (or any need for one), this is really going to cut into access to any blog whose content is deemed prurient.

Blogspot has backed down from stupid policy changes in the past. Maybe they will this time.

  32. no problem. For me, your nice interesting erotic blog is alyways available

  34. I do not have a Blogger account, so I created a new gmail account with a new name and birthday. When I sign in with this, everything works. I use a different browser for this (because Chrome knows all about the real me and might automatically sign me in with my real ID). As long as I don't close the browser, the info stays even if I close the Blogger window.

Because I still stay Anonymous, I now have to check the Captcha -- not a big hurdle because I rarely post.

  35. Anon@1:52am - I'm glad that worked! That must explain why I don't have any trouble viewing other blogspot blogs.
