ReplyDeleteUpdating your too OLD Constitution to the 21st century's realities should be urgent.
ReplyDeleteOur Canadian 1867 Constitution was brought back from England in 1982 and by doing so, our governement of P.E.Trudeau did some changes and added our Canadian Charter of Rights and Liberties to it which is providing safety to ALL Canadians no matter their race, sex or relgion.
Some things dating from 1791 are still as valid today as they were then, like the First Amendment's guarantee of freedom of speech. But the Second Amendment is different It says: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Maybe in 1791 a well regulated militia was necessary. Today we have the U.S. Armed Forces, which are not a militia and bear no relation to a militia. Today, a militia is not necessary. That means that the whole premise of the Second Amendment no longer applies. Therefore the conclusion (the right to bear arms) also no longer applies. -Larry
ReplyDeleteLarry - Excellent conclusion!
