While we were trying to relocate to Belize in 2007, a friend of ours took us, and it was indeed phenomenal! Just down from our place on the Hummingbird Highway, there is the "Inland Blue Hole" Cenote. There have been several attempts to see if they are indeed connected. It is thought they could have been during the Ice Ages when the water levels were so very different. Over time, however, debris, natural rock shifts, and sediment seem to have blocked any path to an easy discovery of a connection. Awesome Pictures. Thanks Rick. Take me back a few years indeed.
Have to wonder how deep that hole is.
ReplyDeleteGF - 400 feet deep!

ReplyDeleteI would love to see this in person. I have a stamp in my collection that shows it, and someone sent me a postcard from Belize showing it.
