Homeless people are not the problem, they are the result of the problem.
I am sure that the US has always had a segment of the population that is homeless.
What triggers me is that I am seeing more and more young people that are homeless. My question once they go down that route how will they dig themselves out. Yes, there are older folks as well.
The US safety net is deplorable. The wage gap between the CEO and frontline worker has grown substantially over the years. Why is it that folks have to work 2, or 3 jobs just to meet basic needs? I say to corporations/CEOs how much is enough.
The US should be investing in its citizenry. We should be training workers for the future. We need big FDR/New Deal-type programs to build the middle class. As we know the middle is shrinking by the day.
I am 65 and I am tired.
The US has to do better. We are better.
VOTE!! VOTE!! I was listing to a program on NPR today about the women voter. Can you believe there are some women who are undecided? I scratched my head and asked myself what is so undecided. Do they have blinders on?
And if our politicians don't keep skyrocketing costs rents and such down and rise minimum wage....we about to see even more homeless.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me started on the homeless.
ReplyDeleteIt tears me apart.

VRCooper - It's a big mess created by corporate greed, and Congress failed to do anything about it. Undecided women is ridiculous! I'm also tired.
