1940s Vought V-173
1945 TBM Avenger Bombers
1950s C-54 Skymaster
1950s DC-4
The first V-173 was also named the «flying pancake».. LOL!
ReplyDeleteJiEL - That's appropriate.
ReplyDeleteSome people probably mistaken the V-173 for a UFO.
ReplyDeleteLuv - Yeah, it's pretty weird.
ReplyDeleteCool stuff. I love all your vintage collections. Design is so fascinating. I'm drawn to graphics, you to practical design.
ReplyDeleteMy grandfather had a niece who worked as a stewardess from 1946-1951, those prop jobs like the DC-4 were very noisy, and she had to pass out earplugs so passengers could sleep on overnight routes. On DC-6+7's and Constellations first class passengers sat at the back of the plane because it was the quietest part of the aircraft cabin. -Rj
ReplyDeleteRJ - Neat bit of trivia.
