  4. You got that right, Rick. SCOTUS just handed Indiana another win in the abortion war. They are pushing and pushing hard, passing legislation while their stacked courts hand down court rulings that adhere to their fundamental "christian" views. We are rapidly headed toward an authoritarian theocracy (christofascism).

  5. Overall I'd say 'Theofascisms', all obediences taken into account.
Any country that does not strictly adhere to and follows the rules of separation of the State and the Church - whatever the main local religion - is doomed to dealing with internal tensions at best, or even to face some of its representatives misconduct at the expense of the people. Acting 'in the name of the Lord's good word' has never been but a mean to the same old pursuit: power through money and the influence over the people's mind.
It is time some so-called evolved countries and government assume that their people are no longer living in the middle ages, when they could be ruled using fables. Religions have to be put on a leash, their organizations be treated like any other business companies where they make money and foremost be kept by all means away from State’s affairs.
Freedom of religion is a right I adhere to, as long as that freedom is kept in the private sphere, never to interfere with public affairs.

  6. Pat - I worry that we're a day late on trying to stop that boat.

Laurent - Theofascism is a good umbrella term. However, this country is faced with one particular dominant delusion. I agree with you: Religions need to be put on a choke-chain! AND taxed like any other business. AND stay out of affairs of state. That book of fables even says to abide by the laws of the land. Sooo, they're bending the laws to fit their worldview.

  7. The carmel baptist church needs another sign next to it that says, "but it's okay to legislate and require a relationship with gawd." FREEDOM OF RELIGION COMES WITH FREEDOM FROM RELIGION. Please to keep your failed, fucking misguided belief system out of my government. Thank you very much! And mentioning legislation, I became aware that I had not received the voters pamphlet for the primary election on August 2nd in my state I began checking with my neighbors and 5 households (Democratic) on my street alone did not receive the pamphlets. The voters pamphlet is required by law to be delivered to every household before we receive our ballots before the election. I Did my duty as a WOKE citizen and called the County elections office to inform them of this distressing occurrence. The woman who took my call was audibly shaken and emotional when I told her my concern. They are now investigating with the USPS to find out why these pamphlets were not delivered. Now I don't like to think bad thoughts about people (mail carriers) that I do not know, but I am also aware the DeJoy(a repug) is still the Postmaster General, appointed by tRUMP, and with what many states are doing to restrict and overrule voting rights in our country, it's a certainty in my mind that skullduggery is afoot! Listen men and women who view this blog, this is the time to stay vigilant and question everything that doesn't seem or look right. If garbage stinks, it's obvious that something rotten is going on. Do everything you can to ensure that all future elections are scrutinized and the repugs do not gain control of the government. We must vote in numbers so massive that there can be no question about who won an election. Let them bring the misinformation and lawsuits, let them spend billions trying to dispute the facts, this is our future we're talking about. I'm off the soapbox now. Next...

  8. Milleson - I like it when you get on your soapbox, you always have something good to say. I just hope that you don't upset your blood pressure. :-)

(How come that DeJoy character still has that job?)

  9. Another antiquated federal law says only the Postal Services board of governors can appoint or remove the postmaster general. Biden's hands are kinda tied.

  10. Some Supreme Court members claim they want to preserve the original intent and sanctity of the Constitution. As if it were a holy book like the Bible is to them. At the same time they foster the opposite, forgetting that the Constitution requires the separation of religion and state and that the document itself was written by 18th century landed, wealthy white men whose views were deistic and humanistic. Also, several of them were slave owners. He, Justices, clean up your logical thinking skills and sweep your own doorsteps and follow your so-called high principles instead of shoring up some theocratic majority. The claim that the Supreme Court is not political is now proven false. Justice is blind, indeed.
