This meme is a result of the vaccination mandate for Canadian truckers who cross back and forth the border between our two countries.
They aren't winning any friends either (except for the uhmerican wannabes), they urinated on the National War Memorial and danced on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. But other than that it was a normal tourist day.

ReplyDeleteYes, terrible I admit. That signage is typical of someone with no sense of what exactly they want to say. Their column has been hankered by all the fringe nuts and poseurs that come out of the woodwork at these anti-vax/anti-mask rallies. The far Right, anti-science, pro-conspiracy armchair nuts. And they sit in their trucks in Ottawa, refusing to move, after pissing on the tomb of the unknown soldier. I am not pro-war, or pro-imperialist, or pro-military. I am pro-respect. Thanks SR, for showing them as idiots.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Canadian and this truck drivers manifestation began in Alberta and British Columbia as Alberta is the most «conservative» and Trump lover province in Canada. It spreaded to all the other provinces and many joined them in Ottawa so now the downtown of Ottawa is jammed and no trafic is possible for kilometers aroud.
ReplyDeleteThey even have some volunteers that are providing them gaz and food so they can remain there for a very long time.
First, you have to know that 90% of all truckers in Canada are well vaccinated and their Truckers Union did condamn that manifestation that was further on appropriate by many other anti vax groups and even by Trump deplorables in USA. Even the master Cheeto did talk about it in his Texas speech not knowing what it was all about.
Their main claim is for Trudeau to cancel the vaccines mandates so they can cross the border. What those idiots seem to forget is that even if Trudeau do it, USA is still asking for vaccine proofs for ALL the truckers.
They can do trucking all over Canada without no problem.
They are still in Ottawa with all their horns on and really ruining the neighborhood and stopping all economic activities in the capital.
Restaurants and hotels and citizens are really fed up.
They have the right to protest but not in such a savage way.
There will be another manifestation coming to Quebec city, our provincial capital but police and every people in charge are well prepared to host them and guide them in peace so they will not do as much as in Ottawa.
Those a not the brightest popsicle in the box and they don't understand the magnitude of their demands as some say that they do it for their FREEDOM and their kids.
What the use to say that as COVID will send them in ICU and their children will be orphins and sick as well with bad consequences on their health.
BTW we have universal healthcare system all over Canada so why would I pay many thousand of dollars for them to take lot of ICU and hospital rooms while some need urgent surgery or care.

ReplyDeleteI saw that «humor» of the picture but as a Canadian (French speaking one) I think that passing over it was more important to inform my American friends of the real purpose of those manifestations in our country.
Some even told it would be our «Jan 6) event which didn't happen as even if those truckers were mad of Trudeau's politics they remain fairly calm, except for few burn heads. They were civilised even if they are still troubling the Ottawa downtown.
Nothing to compare to the Capitol riots of Jan 6 2021.

There is always some dump ass among them but nothing as hatefull and violent as in some far right American's manifestations.

ReplyDeleteThey need to stop complaining, DO SOMETHING CORRECT for a change, and start to make money for themselves and their FAMILIES again. Far to easy to complain about something than to see a better way out and then do it. Oh, right, they DO feel they are doing the right thing?
FAR too many young-uns weren't around in the later 1950s when Polio was around. When vaccines were needed for kids to go to school! No matter what! WE lived through that. Back then, any whiners would have been considered "trouble-makers" who had to be dealt with, as I recall. That vaccine scab mark was a "Badge of Courage", of sorts, that we were all proud to have. Even if the fear of needles might have been operative.
NOT to forget that all US Military (and their families who went with them) had to be vaccinated for each new foreign tour of duty. NO options! Which makes all of these "protesters" look like spoiled little kids, by comparison. The ONLY "go to your room" place is the Jail, unfortunately, for them.
They need to "gegt quiet", comply, and let US all get back to normal as quickly as possible . . . which THEY are obstructing . . . Just like Republicans, by observation.
Trump got those vaccines online and produced just for them, his base, but his base is the main group who resists the vaccines he got for them! You'd think anybody worthy of wearing a red hat would have been the first in line, rather than otherwise. Yet, THEY seem proud of their resistance!
