2022.0119.0008...
Imagine what it will be like when Yellowstone blows.
In all it would have been very devastating. But they said that as it erupted in the water, the magnetude of the explosion was greater than if it happened on ground.
BTW No need to see what damages it would do as many other calamities are happening on USA's ground. Tornadoes, floods, forest fires etc...
Not forgetting the «political» tornadoes against USA's democracy.
My husband and I visited the Rockies several years ago. As we got about 20 miles into Yellowstone, we realized we were essentially driving on an active caldera! Steam was shooting up through cracks in the asphalt roadway. Plumes of gas and steam all over the place. And people were like "Isn't that cool!", and we're going "Let's get the HELL out of here!" They say that the floor of the caldera (a lot of swamps and ponds) is shifting each year, rising up.
When Yellowstone blows expect years of crop failures and BILLIONS of people to die of starvation. Given a few more centuries perhaps humankind will be a multi-planet civilization.

You better hope you're dead when Yellowstone blows.

Ya know... glad we live in Rhode Island!
When Yellowstone blows whom?
ReplyDeleteJiEL - That's a good analogy.
ReplyDeleteGF - Absolutely!
Rad - When Yellowstone blows, even Rhode Island will be affected.
upton - ALL OF US.

ReplyDeleteGF is right.
Anon@2:36pm - If we have that long.
ReplyDeleteUnderstand the concern about Yellowstone. I think it will happen after the Nee Madrid fault slips. Shudder.
ReplyDeleteUnknown - Or perhaps the Cascadia Subduction Zone.
