Here's the answer when conservatives claim that if we tax the rich they won't invest in the economy. BS. They need low paying workers in order to ensure their wealth, no mater how they make their wealth. Period. We are fools not to TAX them heavily if they wish to be pigs at the expense of everyday commoners. If they don't invest... they don't make. They may make keep less if we tax them... but without investing in jobs, the economy, economic growth, infrastructure, etc? They make NOTHING. Think about it. Say it out loud every time a butt wipe utters that insipid argument. Kizzes.

From a European and somewhat childish point of view, I grew up thinking about the U.S. as a free state union were a lead to follow - you know, the whole 'American Dream' package - and therefore from which the best was to be expected. And yes id did, once in a while.
Which is why I do feel so sad for all the current U.S. citizens struggling to pay their rent even when they're working a full-time job, obligated to choose food over medications because medicare does not stand up to its definition, dividing each others over 'who's rich and who's not' as if money was the only common ground relayed non-stop by all the TV shows (gimme more Kardashians, more bling-bling, more so-called Stars, more of Captain America (Cold War still has some fans).
We all know, for History taught us so, when and where it takes a turn: it is, quite unfortunately, when the army chooses sides and 'helps' getting rid of the system in place, "in the name of the people". That is when history gets back at repeating itself, all over again, only to be written by the winners (which rhymes with owners). And the story goes forth...
There are so many leaders pretending they have read Machiavel (when they probably did not, too preoccupied to excerpt from it only what suited their own agendas). Did they even read and pay attention to the warnings that can be found in Asimov's? What the heck are their f*cking consultants paid for?
Easy money will always flow from ignorance, it seems (possessions, power, a fancy house in wisteria-lane or an Upper East Side condo, pick your pawn).

BatRedneck - I was very moved by your overwhelmingly true words. At this point in time I, too, am very disappointed over what my country has become. Only time will tell if the forces of good will prevail; for there are many forces who wish only for themselves.
