  1. Artsy, indeed! Let's discuss the statue. Most likely sculpted sometime B.C. And if the sculptor had a live model for reference, that man was BUILT!! Even if the artist took some artistic license (photoshopping now), the model was still a beautiful physical specimen. The detail in the back and abdomen show this man had been to the gym, very little body fat. I couldn't find the name of the sculptor, but he sure nailed the essence of the man, the cold marble seems to be alive. Just beautiful!!!

  2. Popped up at picture number one: "I told you already: do NOT pee in the neighbor's mailbox!"

    (ok, ok... I'm out)

  3. Milleson - It hadn't even occurred to me that the statue could be a fake. I did wonder, however, about the chains. They couldn't be marble, could they?

BatRedneck - Oh, I thought that little room was an ancient elevator.

  5. I'm thinking the chains could be marble dust and a glue of some kind. Or it is possible to make wooden chains with careful whittling. I think the ancients created many things that even look impossible today.

  8. To me this statue looks like a computer generated model, although it is hard to really tell due to the resolution of the picture. Anyway I doubt his seniority for several details do not fit.
It is in the style of Myron though, 5th century BC and famous for his discobolus sculptures.

  9. Is that first one a glory hole pic? Very nice. Also like the one on the stairs.

  10. BatRedneck - I think you're right that it's computer generated.

uptonking - Now, why didn't I think of that possibility.

  11. If I'm wrong on this, I accept that. I took my information from www.liveinternet.ru from an article published Sept. 3, 2013 titled Marble Beauty. 100 Great Sculptors, where this sculpture is pictured with some you may recognize. I do admit that it is becoming difficult to distinguish between reality and CGI.

  12. Milleson - Every time I tried that link, it came up with something in Russian, I think. Sorry.

  13. That's the ru at the end of the address. It is Russian, but I translated to English and was able to find that article and view the pictures of the many sculptures that accompany the article. Not really important enough to worry about this. Whatever it is, he's a mighty fine looking man. Good night, friends...
