I would like to share with you a possible reason for this election's egregious outcome.
A local friend recommended a Netflix documentary entitled "The Social Dilemma".
Jerry and I watched it last night and we were blown away. Here's the trailer:
Coincidentally, the latest issue of Scientific American has a large spread, "Confronting Misinformation", that is very informative.

It has always perplexed me the way that the electoral system in the US operates....but that's probably more to do with me being a bit 'thick' and not understanding it correctly.....Here in the UK we still have a first past the post system on a simple majority to elect our Parliament, my be old and outdated, but seems to work (most of the time) proportional representation seems to causes weeks of chaos and a weak and fractured system...thank heavens we don't vote for a head of state, a constitutional monarchy has served us well for centuary's seemingly? Our civil service runs the 'business' so governments can literally change overnight usually. It drives me mad when folks cannot be bothered to vote, folks had died so we have that right, yes no one should be forced to vote if they don't want to as that in would be undemocratic...but we have a duty to do so as free souls I believe....Rant over (sorry) hope this all works out for you good folk soon...!
ReplyDeletebobbert - Don't worry about not understanding the Electoral system, I don't understand it either. I would much prefer just straight popular voting. And people who don't vote are just lazy.
ReplyDeleteThis will be my problem going forward. How to live with my neighbor and his wife who are obviously complete idiots and voted for this beast to serve another 4 years. How could they think a spoiled ignorant self-absorbed pseudo-millionaire has anything in common with them and has their best interests in mind. Very puzzling.
ReplyDeletein my opinion, you should change your electoral system for the president of the USA.
ReplyDeleteMilleson - That is the $64,000 question.
ReplyDeleteXersex - It would take amending the Constitution and that involves our gridlocked Congress and ratification from 2/3 of the states. So it's sure not going to happen in our lifetime.
