World's richest woman makes case for $2-a-day pay
The world's richest woman, Australian mining tycoon Gina Rinehart, drew international scorn recently after saying that people who are jealous of the wealthy should drink less and work harder.
And now she's back with some more helpful advice.
Speaking at the Sydney Mining Club, Rinehart said her country's mining industry couldn't compete with nations that are willing to pay
workers less than $2 a day for their sweat and labor.
The implicit suggestion: Employers should be free to pay workers whatever they please.
This echoes Rinehart's earlier to-do list, in which she urged Aussie lawmakers to cut the minimum wage so that, well, she wouldn't have to spend so much money on things like workers' salaries and benefits.

just goes to show you that it's all in the luck of the 'accident of birth'. Imagine what someone with an actual SOUL having that kind of money and power and the good they could do. Sickens me..
ReplyDeleteWell Hello, Leona2
ReplyDeleteall that money and she still looks like trailer park trash Honey Boo Boo.
ReplyDeleteIf I had her wealth I would get surgery to make me look like...well, anyone better looking, really.
Karl - Yeah, I thought with all her money she could have a face-lift and liposuction.
ReplyDeleteKarl - BTW, sorry that I forgot to ask: How's your new place coming along?
ReplyDeleteThank you for asking, Rick.
ReplyDeleteIm currently in week one of a three-week 'road trip' backwards and forwards from house of hell 'A' to dream house 'B'. After losing the opportunity of moving someplace I actually wanted to be nearly three months ago I have now found a great house [and with no nearby nasty neighbours - BONUS!] thirty miles away from where I was, so everyday Im taking things from here to there...its a tiring task but worth it [I think. If I have any energy left at the end of this.].It will prob be mid-October before Im settled in full-time. My new place has a brand-new fitted kitchen [the previous owner put it in just months before she left to the cost of £9000 and is so gorgeous I could live in that alone, never mind the rest of the house] and newly-laid wooden flooring which Ive never had before [too used to carpets, you see]. My new place will come in handy , both for being nearer to my work and for visiting my sister and my elderly mom [hang on a minute, thats not so good LOL!].
So, travelling back and forth each day with boxes of this and that, will it ever end? Yes, but dont quote me when!
Oh Christ, and its my birthday this Sunday too! I'll be buried in cardboard boxes on the motorway!
Karl - Happy birthday! Your new place sounds really nice, and closer to work and family is a bonus. Don't work too hard and, remember: mind the back!
