I don't like to get "political" but I feel this next election is too critical. This man, this team, this republiCON party are detrimental to the welfare of regular people and when something like this comes my way, I am compelled to share it.
Thanks Glenn!
“You’ve worked hard all your life. You’ve paid Medicare taxes for almost 30 years. But under the Republican plan, Medicare won’t be there for you. Instead of Medicare as it exists now, under the Republican plan you’ll get a voucher that will pay as little as half your Medicare costs when you turn 65—and as little as a quarter in your 80s. And all so that millionaires and billionaires can have a huge tax cut.”
Conservative GOP consultant David Frum, describing the television ads that the Dems will be running regarding Mitt’s choice of granny starver Paul Ryan as his veep candidate.
Frum went on to add that the advert will not just draw blood, but as Henry Kissinger once said, it will have the additional merit of being true.
The Obama campaign is gonna hang Ryan around Mitten’s neck and then beat the two of them over their empty heads with Ryan’s granny starving budget.
As Charlie Pierce said,
“Paul Ryan is an authentically dangerous zealot. He does not want to reform entitlements. He wants to eliminate them. He wants to eliminate them because he doesn’t believe they are a legitimate function of government. He is a smiling, aw-shucks murderer of opportunity, a creator of dystopias in which he never will have to live. This now is an argument not over what kind of political commonwealth we will have, but rather whether or not we will have one at all, because Paul Ryan does not believe in the most primary institution of that commonwealth: our government. The first three words of the Preamble to the Constitution make a lie out of every speech he’s ever given. He looks at the country and sees its government as something alien that is holding down the individual entrepreneurial genius of 200 million people, and not as their creation, and the vehicle through which that genius can be channelled for the general welfare.”
Rick thanks so much for posting this. This election is to important for us all; we've got to stop this hatred!
ReplyDeleteI think Mitt's choice was perfect and says more about who he really is than anything he could have said, not said or totally fked up saying .. you mean to tell me that:
ReplyDelete1. There are no qualified women in his party to put on the ticket? (I dont feel Sarah Palin is among them)
2. No African-Americans?
3. No Latinos?
4. No Jews, no Catholics?
etc, etc, etc
Re: The Paul Ryan caricature and commentary.... I think you should feel free to get political on your blog. Why hold back? I tend to find the people who disagree with me were destined to be weeded out any way. And any gay man voting for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan doesn't understand his (or her) own best interests. I'd never vote for a presidential ticket simply because they look like suit models.
ReplyDeletePS - You may enjoy my blog. No hot male nudes, but lots of campy pro-gay images and commentary. http://winnietoons.com/

ReplyDeleteO!Daddie, I agree with you that Ryan was an uninspired choice. I think he and Romney are virtually interchangeable. However, Ryan is devoutly Catholic.
