It's also the beginning of National Ice Cream Month (the third Sunday being National Ice Cream Day), designated in 1984 by President Ronald Regan, who considered ice cream a fun and nutritious (nutritious?!?) food. In 1910, each American consumed a little less than two pounds of ice cream a year. Today, that figure is more than 26 pounds! No wonder there's an obesity problem!
