Post-5291...
I have two nests of these, one under the eave of the porch, the other under my carport eave.
I stepped on one once, back in 2004. I had swatted it and it mustve landed on the floor, when I stood up I felt it under my foot [I tend to walk around my house barefoot] and it hurt like hell. I had a numb feeling for days although that mightve been psychosommatic [all in the mind] as I never felt any severe after-effects. Anyway, no harm done. It does make one think tho about what a sting from one of those things would actually do.
Beautiful but do not get the upset they do sting and it is not plesant. Got Raid WASP Spray, the stuff shoots for 25ft and gets rid of them in an instant from a safe distants .
Everyone - I'm well aware they can be nasty, but had them last year and heard that if you don't bother them, they won't bother you, which is what happened, so I'm inclined to do the same this year.
vicious fkers they are.. grrrrr
