Post-5009...
I ran across this on the Facebook page of a friend and thought it's a very good idea! I'll repost this a couple more times when it gets closer to the date cuz if y'all are anything like me, you'll forget.
I understand the sentiment, but this is just silly. Gas companies know that people will buy the same amount of gas -- even the flyer says to buy on the 14th or 16th.
As I remember, last time this was done there was no effect on gas prices. The idea that they "dropped 30 cents overnight" is either a complete fantasy or, if true, applied to one gas station somewhere.
Then there's the point that (in the US) gas prices are actually way lower than they should be, given the true cost of this non-renewable resource.
Today here in the UK, we have just had a news report that at Easter there will be a self-imposed petrol/gas strike. We've just had our Prime Minister going on television to urge people not to panic buy and not to stock up any supplies! It seems to be catching on!
Is everyone going to do this? Havent heard of it before, might be a good thing.

Karl - I agree.
ReplyDeleteStan - While I realize it probably won't do anything substantial, at least we can make a statement.
