Soul Train, 1978...

  1. The behavior of that first baby elephant is remarkably like a human toddler. In some ways mammal behavior has stayed a lot more stable through evolutionary time than physical form has.

  4. Ah, Soul Train, the much needed alternative to American Bandstand where the only non-white people were some of the musical acts. Needless to say but that show really shook up a lot of old white folk, who were shocked by those bubble afros and wild clothing choices. The black emancipation was upon us and there was no turning back to the segregated lunch counters and bathrooms of the past. No matter how you feel, those clothes were so much fun; colorful. creative, and on the men, pants so tight you could tell if the guys were cut or uncut. Crotch watching was a favorite sport in those whacky, wonderful 70s. Today, we have style which includes ripped jeans, Crocs, and pajama bottoms and shower shoes considered appropriate apparel while out shopping in public. Trailer trash chic? Whatever.

The elephants though, here I sit with a reassuring smile on my face wishing I could watch these huge animals interact with humans and enjoy a goose chase and a bath for the next 12 hours. What a wonderful creature Mother Nature has created, isn't it a shame that the human species almost hunted these amazing creatures to extinction. Who are the real beasts(nasty, ignorant, murderous) in the Animal Kingdom?

  6. Always preferred Soul Train over AB, there was no comparison.
Don Cornelius was the great host of Soul Train, and Soul Train always had great dancers who dressed to impress. Even my grandmother was impressed by the dancing and the clothes. :)

  8. Love the baby elephants, they are my very favourite animal. It makes me very angry how they have been treated over the years. When will people learn to let them live their lives in peace

#1) I bet that drink is delicious.

Last one) Oh this one made my day. I like when the guy was trying to paint the fence. OH, and when the baby elephant went sliding down the hill.
