God Forbid we shame someone like Fuckerberg for having a yacht that consumed over a half million barrels of diesel fuel so he (and the support ship) could sail around the world.
ReplyDeleteYour Facebook data mining at work. Just keep feeding his algorithms.

Or the 90+ private jets that flew the obscenely rich to Venice for a wedding!
DeleteThe first item is the very definition of "MANAGED CARE". Heaven forbid that any illness be cured, easier and more profitable for the providers if they just manage the situation! Should a "cure" be promised, if the patient dies, that can be a huge liability issue for pharma!
ReplyDeleteThe BAD thing is that many "rich people" want others to see their obvious wealth, as they keep it and build from it. Let them "build from it" by investing in social projects, like uplifting their workers with higher wages and such. Uplifting those with few resources to have a better and more productive life. Further investing in tv and radio that is truly non-partisan so ALL can see what is really happening, from both sides of the conversation. In other words, help others have a better life on this earth, when possible.
As others want to display their claimed "wealth" for all to see, even brag about what they can do and do do. I have no issues with Zuck's trip or Bezos' spectacle wedding or yachts. Combined, they could end all of the social issues in this nation, IF they would try. In many cases, they are NOT "in your face" with their activities, as the papparazzi chase them for pictures (the modern version of "gossiping"). Not unlike what the "movie magazines" did for Hollywood stars in the 1960s. I'll be GLAD when the White House can be "un-golded" and return to being more stately and professional in demeanor. And, of course, "more Presidential".
Each time in USA a politician from the left side is daring to talk about some social advancements like universal healthcare and other policies to help ALL Americans, those from the far right will wave the scarecrow of "socialism" which for them equals "communism" showing how uneducated they are.
ReplyDeleteMany social democracies like Canada, France, UK, Germany etc are not as wealthy as USA but we have universal healthcare systems and other policies to help our citizens while being as capitalist economies as USA.
In USA money is the center of all of your society and those wealthy powerful insurance companies and like the NRA are stopping any changes for the good of ALL Americans.
In Canada, no one is complaining that a poor or unemployed can get healthcare like some MAGA Repugs are saying that you have to work to have it. It shows a lack of charity or kindness from those Bible-Jesus freeks who want to impose Christian values but are doing the contrary.
USA has to do a kind of revolution to align with the other democracies in the world in that matter.
Imagine that even in Afghanistan they have universal healthcare paid by USA.. LOL !
Ronald Reagan was the first one to accept that bribe to allow the healthcare system to make a profit.
ReplyDeleteFor all its problems. The UK NHS is amazing, free at the point need, no fee for calling an ambulance and saved my life after a heat attack, the medication I continue to need
ReplyDeleterenewed each month free. Yes there is a chronic waiting list for some treatment, but funded out of general taxation had been the linchpin since its inception.

And you British save a fortune from the fact that your health is taken care of and your access to more preventative care. Here in the states many people don’t have insurance and they end up in the emergency room with care that can cost thousands leaving them bankrupt and without the crucial follow up care they require.
DeleteEven with insurance we are stuck with being at the mercy of the insurance companies and their ability to deny care. We have had situations where people are prepped for surgery at a hospital and at the last minute the insurance companies will deny surgical care with a mere phone call ! Don’t ever let conservatives in Britain tell you private medicine controlled by private insurance companies is better than your NHS. In our country conservatives criticize socialized medicine but never offer a viable alternative or much needed reforms to our health and financially ruinous private system. As far as they are concerned you can go without care and even die. Japan had private health systems and they socialized them, they have since saved billions in costs and many lives through preventative health care available to everyone.

Our «Conservative» parties in Canada as in UK are not the same kind of conservatives you have in USA. Our universal healthcare systems are not to be changed only for the best to assure more adequate help for our citizens. We are not in a binary partiers system and have a large range of politic views which makes our country less polarized.
DeleteMust also add that in Province of Québec we also have a provincial car insurance for decades which provide car insurance in case of an accident for ALL the people in that sinister. It's paid each year when we pay for our car licence plate. The private insurance companies are just insuring the «metal car» to repairs.
This made a huge battle back then when the provincial government decided to install this public insurance for car users.
One of what makes us a social democracy with a capitalist way of life as in USA.
British Columbia has a similar insurance program for cars. The license plate is your policy number. For profit insurance can insure beyond liability.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you didn't have a seatbelt on in an accident, it's 25% reduction in pay out immediately.
