Post-2056...

I'm thinking of going to this!

PORTLAND, Ore. - A protest against Wall Street and corporate America is spreading to the Northwest and local organizers of Occupy Portland say the city shouldn't expect what happened in New York over the weekend – there police arrested more than 700 demonstrators as they marched across the Brooklyn Bridge.

A handful of people who are helping to plan Portland's rally this Thursday said Monday they are frustrated with politicians and with corporations. They say their feeling is that the most powerful one percent of the country is more or less calling the shots for the other 99 percent of Americans.

The group says it wants to keep the protest nonviolent and avoid confrontations with police. But they do expect a large crowd at the noon rally at Waterfront Park. Then they'll march to Pioneer Courthouse Square.

  1. Hope there wont be any confrontations on the day, but the police dont really like demos.

  4. Oh, the Wonder Woman Day is held every year, both in Boston [its main event] and in Portland [a smaller event]. Its held by the grandchildren of WWs creator and each year they have a different charity they raiise money for -last time it was for domestic abuse. I wouldve gone last year but I fell ill around that time.
Everyone comes dressed as Wonder Woman! [well, except me].

  5. Karl - Sounds like a worthwhile event. Still, I've never heard of it.

  6. Don't know if the news media is trying to down play this "movement" or not - but did see a couple of clips where they ask different people what they are protesting against. No-body had the same answer.
Either this protest movement needs to have defined goals, or the news media needs to report the truth.
    lol about the last one.
