Never missed the original "The Bob Newhart Show" on Saturday nights. His wife played by the beautiful Suzanne Pleshette, who is also deceased. He always seemed like a really nice guy.

Yes, he will be missed, as all will be. So many prominent people loved by many are leaving us this year, and it's only July. My only consolation is that many leave of legacy and wealth of information, entertainment and charitable acts. We'll have classic comedy show reruns that will keep us laughing until it's time for us to move on. Love you Bob and your wonderful, whacky supporting cast members, especially Suzanne Pleshette, what a beautiful husky feminine voice. Time to re-watch Alfred Hitchcock's "the Birds"
Oh... that last photo. I loved the receptionist on the original Newhart show. And Suzanne Pleshette - what a great broad. I would have loved to have bought a drink or two. And then we could arm wrestle. Childhood dreams.
I still vividly remember a scene where Bob was hosting the show "Good Morning Vermont". As he invited viewers to watch the next show he mentioned his guests and the topic of discussion, "The styrofoam cup: Modern Convenience or Satan's Chalice?"
The look on his face! Incredible. Still makes me laugh.
When Bob's the several tv series of Bob's were on, they were nice shows. Personally, at that time, I noticed the good looking people and how they interacted on the show. It was all good, but not something I wanted to watch, back then.
When he did the cameos on "The Big Bang Theory", I came to appreciate his humor and delivery much more. Realizing that that was Bob's style, even back in the earlier times. His delivery and Sheldon's orientations were gold.
Now that I'm much older, I can better appreciate his style. A great person. May he Rest In Peace.
He left us with a wonderful body of work, and a series finale that will never be forgotten!
In honor of Bob Newhart, my husband and I watched "In and Out", again, last evening. For those who may not have seen it yet, it is the story of a high school English Literature teacher, Howard Brackett, who is inadvertently outed by a former student who has recently won an Oscar for his performance as a gay soldier. There are so many memorable performances (and performers) in that film but Bob Newhart, who plays Mr. Haliwell, the school principal who fires Howard for being gay, is classic Newhart style. The film ends on a positive note with rousing community support for Howard, his reinstatement as a teacher, and the re-commitment ceremony reception of Howard's parents with the guests dancing in a conga line to "Macho Man" by the Village People. "In and Out" is a feel good, coming out story with many fine actors, including the now-departed Bob Newhart, and a happy ending - NO, not that kind! Stream it and enjoy!
