Connu pour les pèlerinages a l'epoque médiévale de ses fidèles appelés Miquelots. Pendant Seconde Guerre mondial Mont Saint-Michel a été libéré par un soldat américain solitaire, Pvt Freeman Brough, et la lord-maire lui ont fait signer le Livre d'or de la noblesse. C'est aujourd'hui l'une des principales attractions de France. Célèbre pour servir des Omelette de la mère Poullard et crêpes Normandie dans les restaurants.
