Dearest friends and strangers! It's been brought to our attention that this weekend in Portland Oregon during pride weekend a group of Proud Boys/Alt Right/White Supremacists are planning to disrupt and possibly attack individuals leaving Pride events. No specifics have been given to what events or locations are planned. We're making this post to try and make people aware. It doesn't matter what event you plan to attend, please stay in numbers, be aware of your surroundings and don't hesitate to ask any promoter, security person or even a stranger to help you get into a safe ride home or even walk you to your car. BLOWPONY has already alerted sober friends to keep an eye out on the surrounding area where our venue is and we plan to make sure our security is aware of this situation. Again we urge people to reach out if you don't feel comfortable leaving a space and ask for someone to walk with you.

One suggestion to all: Back in the late 1970s when living in San Francisco (during the Harvey Milk and Anti-Gay Briggs Initiative days), gay activist organizations encouraged people to carry whistles in case they felt they were in danger or saw others in danger. To this day I carry one, on the ring with my house keys. In SF I used it twice and once in New York. Might not be helpful in a very noisy situation, but if on a quiet side street, it has been helpful. Something to consider.
