  2. To all my fellow Gay Veterans, and straight, thank you for your service. Most of us served honorably and bravely, baring the weight of a secret we could not share nor dared to share about our true selves,

    The second photo has always stirred in me the true mental damage and anguish that witnessing war and death on a grand scale takes on those involved. And as each of these conflagrations begins and ends, we learn nothing. Another conflict is in our future.

    1. And if you are of a certain age, you may remember as a child seeing the members of the American Legion selling the red paper poppies around Memorial Day. We may not have known the significance of these lapel flowers at the time, but we do now. Read the poem, "In Flander's Fields" by John McCrae.

    2. In Canada we celebrate on November 11 the "Rememberence Day" (Jour du Souvenir) and the red popy (coqulicot) is widly sold to support our veterans.

  3. So, so many......
    Take a few moments for them. Then see what you can do to get rid of the fake patriots permeating the current regime.

  4. This time of year is a time for remembrance and thankfulness for those that fought for this nation's freedom and democracy, by defeating FASCISM in Europe and other places in the world, back then.

    In public schools, I learned that WWII was fought to defeat Fascism. I wonder IF the MAGA people really understand that now? AND that their relatives fought to defeat the very forces now at play in this country, politically? As they seek to memorialize this nation's fallen heroes. I wonder when they will finally see the great disconnect of their current political views and what HISTORY has trold us previously about such things!!!

    There IS a reason Germany shakes their head at the current US president and his administration. They've been there and the USA got them away from their earlier situation. WE can only hope, pray, AND VOTE that the current situation ends soon. MAGA is not the choice to vote for!

  6. Remembrance is the key, to ensure this never happens again. The poppy is a symbol of remembrance in the UK and Commonwealth of Nations for the sacrifices of all involved in conflict. The Flanders poppy fields appearing after the carnage had been levelled, ‘We Will Remember Them’, our Remembrance Sunday falls on the closest date to 11/11 but we also fall silent on the exact date too.

  7. And yet here in the states a man totally unfit to be President, called our veterans suckers and losers. Worse, many Americans go along with this shit !
    My own maga relations who disparaged the draft dodgers of the Vietnam war say not one word of their dear leader’s draft dodging. And they protest that he never disparaged war veterans.
    The only suckers and losers are him, his regime and his sick supporters.
    May these worthless traitors have their comeuppance this November and their end in 2028.

  8. I cannot believe that anyone who is in such a high office as the President of the USA so totally disparaged and dishonoured all the members of the armed forces of NATO and non aligned countries when Article 5 was invoked after September 11th and fought bravely along side the armed services of the US in Afghanistan and Iraq. Shame on Trump forever and those that agreed with him.

  9. Die amerikanischen und alliierten Soldaten befreiten Deutschland auch von unserem eigenen Wahnsinn ;
    nun scheint es, als müsse Europa Amerika von seinem Wahnsinn befreien.
    The American and Allied soldiers liberated Germany from our own lunacy;
    Now it seems Europa may have to liberate Amerika from its lunacy.
    We show more respect for Amerika and your veterans than Trump and his cohorts.
