That image of The Riccardos and Mertzs in Lucy and Ricky's '55 Pontiac typlifies many such staged car trips. Many times the gear shift was in an incorrect position for the car to move forward. Or the steering wheel was not turned to drive forward in a straight line. In THIS case, the shifter and turn signal level are positioned well, just that they are going in a large right-hand circle, rather than straight down the road. BUT as long as they were happy and singing, all was well. Until they got to the cabin by the railroad track and the bunk beds bounced across the floor when a train came by . . . GREAT comedy back then!
