I just watched the phenomenal series on Netflix, "Death by Lightning" about the months leading up to the assassination of President James Garfield. It portrayed Guiteau (the assassin) as a feeble-minded nutjob who convinces himself that Garfield lied to America, and that God has empowered Guiteau to remove him.
