Our Canadian universal healthcare system and our weapons ban of kind of AR-15 style are two of numerous reasons why Canada will NEVER be the 51st state of USA. Trump's never ending idea of it shws that he is delusional as IF we would be Americans we would vote Democrate. He would never have the House and Senate to praise him. Also, here in Canada, our CEOs can walk safely in the sidewalks of our city because they have no influence over our health.
Canadians have common sense that’s why :) something lacking in America :( Way back in the early seventies my family use to manage a motel in Palm Springs, our best customers were the snowbirds from Canada. (Ollie an RAF veteran and his wife Vivian would always call ahead to make sure my grandmother stocked up on Canadian VO whiskey and Bombay Gin, I was their bartender as a kid) I would hate to be a motel owner today in Palm Springs, with insane money loser Trump’s insulting vitriol aimed at Canadians and Canada. He and his cult have no clue how deep our economies are entwined and the merchants they are harming. -Rj
@Rj, With all what is going on in Florida, the bad dollar exchange, the more expensive home insurance and with this orange idiot many Canadian snowbirds are selling their condos, houses or mobile homes and are considering going somewhere else for winter. Sure that 47 bad businessman isn't seeing how his economic policies will hurt many Americans doing business with Canadians in many fields. Tariffs are hidden taxes and the one who will pay for them are you, Americans.
The first part, about health insurance, is false. A quick search revealed that in 2022 the number of employees in the life, health and medical insurance industry in the U.S. was 901,000. This includes life insurance, so it is an overestimate for health insurance. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says that in 2022 there were 933,000 physicians and 3.3 million registered nurses in the U.S. Also, the statement "Most of the money is spent BLOCKING your treatment" makes no sense. Insurance companies do not block your treatment – they do not have the option to approve or disapprove it, and they don't even know about your treatment until they are asked to pay for it afterwards. I'm not opposed to the government paying for health care, but this particular meme is simply not true.
Thanks for the quick search concerning the statistics, but I have a question about the last part of your comment. I think BLOCKING your treatment should have been REIMBURSING the healthcare provider for the treatment, and to what extent. I have a Medicare advantage plan with the dreaded United Healthcare company(although I've had a good experience with them), and each time my PCP refers me to a specialist and treatment or surgery is called for, the clinic has to call and insure the procedure is covered and what they pay for and/or what my estimated out of pocket expenses will be. I've had multiple surgeries to remove lipomas and a hernia to fix among other things and out of pocket expenses of less than $200. Yet a simple gel injection into my knee to cushion the damaged area of arthritis set me back $125 because the physician didn't check that day and relied on info in my records for a past injection I'd received years ago, which cost me a few bucks. It's complicated for a reason.
No need here in Canada for those approuvals on back an forth doctor-insurance etc. In February 2017 my colon cancer was diagnosed with a «free» colonoscopy and then my doctor just scheduled for the surgery at the hospital which was done on July 21 2107 and again «$» for it even with a 4 days at the hospital. Here you just show and pass your universal healthcar card (it's just the same as a credit card) and no bills bill come to you..... And no fussing over private insurances refusing any procedures.

Larry - Thank you for pointing all of that out. Too bad I didn't vet that one. (Actually, I didn't vet any or them.)
DeleteYou must have darn big shoulders to carry the huge chips on them.
ReplyDeleteIt’s your Trumpenführer who has the biggest chips on his shoulders.
