2025.0228.0001-Thursday...

The year before a fulminating Nazi rally in a packed Madison Square Garden in New York, FDR warned that the global rise of fascism was the result of democratic governments doing the opposite of the New Deal and protecting an economic status quo enriching a tiny handful at the expense of everyone else.

"Democracy has disappeared in several other great nations, not because the people of those nations disliked democracy, but because they had grown tired of unemployment and insecurity, of seeing their children hungry while they sat helpless in the face of government confusion and government weakness through lack of leadership," he said in a 1938 radio address. "Finally, in desperation, they chose to sacrifice liberty in the hope of getting something to eat."

  1. America the not so beautiful... I'm sorry, but our founding fathers set up this bull shit by giving President's unchecked power and authority, which was bolstered by that useless unsupreme court. Furthermore, if our founding fathers had the guts, ending slavery would have been included in the declaration of independence.

  2. It's not SCROTUS, there is a whole industry driving towards authoritarianism in the background. Trump's days are numbered; I would be surprised if he survived his first year back in office. It's everyone in the wings waiting for him to drop that is ready to replace him. This "Heritage Foundation"; the authors of "Project 2025" have been pulling the ropes since Newt Gingrich during the Clinton years.

Vance is the next chosen one. Which is interesting, they had thought Pence was going to be the puppet, but alas, he had too much of a spine in him when all was said and done.

  3. I am very worried about our country, to say the least. We have to figure out how to stop these Nazis, but I am at a loss as to what to do.

  6. The only way you will get rid of this King to be is when death will free you from him.
After a bit more than one month of his riegn, he is not making America great but he is weakening the country, making Putin a friend, shaking NATO and Europe and dismanteling the government's agencises event the FBI.
MAGA-GOP leading in ALL levels of the government gives him free access to do what ever his twisted mind want to do.
Even the courts in USA cannot stop him and his DOGE maniac.

  7. Yep, "Good ole Newt" was the start of "the other guys are our enemies" orientation of Republican politics! Yep, it did go back that far! Sounded kind of harmless back then, but it has been a continuing growth issue every year since then. Now it is a rallying cry for Rs, as if they are the only ones to fix the problems they orchestrated in the first place! Flaky funding schemes, as "block grants" that are really a non-offensive way of allocating fewer funds than before, or the famous "donut hole" in Medicare coverage. When it is all said and done, the vast majority of present issues in the USA go back to Rs not wanting to fully-fund things that needed those funds, to me.
We didn't care about what a niche judges' society called "The Federalist Society" was, back then, or understand how many high judges were members. NOW we do know what it is! How allegedly prestigious it is to be a member, too! This, and other similar groups with "great sounding names" are working to ONLY make them seem grander and more prestigious, NOT work for the betterment of the complete USA to really make it a great nation of the world. These groups need to be shown for what they really are and how some of past their prime as being needed.

  8. FDR was denounced as a tool of Moscow by the reactionary conservatives in his day. And yet here today we have reactionary conservatives who have proven to be tools of Moscow out to destroy the very fabric of America.
