"The Awful Truth"---No, not the 1937 classic movie starring Irene Dunne and Cary Grant, but calling attention to the two raters who gave this post an awful rating. That is their choice but I wonder what prompts a person to continue to believe and support a man so flawed and flailing in his numerous court battles. No sooner had I read the news of the verdict in his New York business dealings when an hour later his stupefying staunch supporters had set up a "Go Fund Me" account to help a self-proclaimed billionaire pay the $355,000,000.00(gawd that looks wonderful) penalty for his ongoing lies about the worth of his businesses. Thank you Judge Engoron. This verdict, along with the suits brought by the several women whom he wronged and lied about, and with the other suits in Georgia and Florida still to be determined, this is hopefully the beginning of the end of the Trump Empire and Dynasty(both Don Jr. and Eric were also fined $4,000,000.00 each).
Personally, I'm at the point of excruciating exhaustion concerning this miserable excuse for a human. I'm sick of his snobbery, his childish behavior, his arrogance, his bizarre campaign rally speeches, his continuous proven lying. I long for the day when the only pictures I view of him will be in prison garb, behind bars where he obviously deserves to be. I'm weary, fatigued mentally, ready for this dark chapter in American politics to be over. But I'm also a realist and know that the movement this monster has created will not go quietly or accept any election results in the future. And I do expect their will be blood shed at some point.
In 76 years, I never expected to see some states so angry they want to secede from the union, unwilling to compromise or work to find solutions to the nation's problems. So many Congressional men and women whose hearts are filled with hate that they no longer can legislate for the people they represent. Angry people whose goal now is to bring the opposition down at any cost so as to placate their mentally challenged base. Mystifying.
The political climate in our country is toxic. We need not fear the downfall of America coming from a foreign power or adversary. They are all watching this disturbing fiasco play out in real time and know that if America fails and falls, the demise of a once great country will come from within. No more shining beacon of freedom to which other countries aspire and therefore emulate. We will have become a third or fourth world nation, consumed in greed, hate and turmoil.
The choice of which direction we take will be decided in November. We will see either a slow but workable turnaround or the continuation of the death spiral that started in 2016 when an unqualified huckster and entertaining buffoon became a world leader who dreamed of being a king and did everything possible to make his dream come true. Here's hoping there will be enough Americans who still can think and reason for themselves and will vote accordingly to end this demented man's dream.
