The Bible progresses from "hard line" orientations (Old Testament" to more progressive orientations (New Testament), not to mention the many variations thereof. A document which has many things which many can align with. In some cases, not a lot of consistency, it seems. YET whichever orientation one might choose, is "The Word of God" and "devout" followers will rally behind whichever orientation they might choose to defend their orientations. Kind of sounds like a way to cause "division" among the ranks of "followers"?

Some see the value of "Compromise" as others will not compromise for any reason, even if it might make for a better world to live in. I guess it might be just how expansive one's "personal world" might be. Whether your own little plot of ground (or concrete), many places where the sun does or does not shine, or "the planet"?

MIGHT "following God" be more of a "work in progress", to better our existence on this Earth, rather than otherwise? Yet peoples and tribes have sought to have "control" of their areas to further "the goals/desires" of their God, over the centuries. In these orientations, it appears that many never considered that a blending of cultures, respectfully, might make for a better situation, with "better" practices replacing "less-good" ones? Ahhh, the "HUMAN EGO" . . . enters and got in the way of such things!

"Human Ego" can lead to "hidden agendas" and things can devolve from there. And THAT is considered "progress"?

The USA was founded on "freedom OF religion", which can also mean "freedom FROM religion", as "religion" has such a variable definition. After centuries, many in this country have not fully understood that!

In its wording, the US Constitution actually indicates both: OF and FROM.

There is so much about any organized religion that is fucked up. But, basically, their bottom line is control and $$$$.

Using the word "cruel" seems to be working for me when I try to discuss politics with family. "I have never heard such 'cruel'broadcasting." "Those policies seem cruel", etc. Then the listener can struggle to disagree and explain why.
