  3. "Pre-existing conditions" means any lame excuse for the insurance company to not have to pay out on the policy that you and your employer, or you alone, have paid into for years. And we have The Great Communicator himself, Ronald Reagan, to thank for that.

  4. The Stephan history could be copied for Canadian healthcare universal system and for many other democratic countries that are providing it too.

USA is too much at the mercy of those money maker insurance companies that will never want to let their money providing system and will fight for it.

Also here our prescription meds are in very low cost compare to yours in USA because our federal government did pass some laws to control their costs and give the pharma companies guidance of how much they can put a price on their meds.

  6. It is also valid for Italy, but don't think that we have no problems, because our health care is very expensive for the Italian state. Keep in mind that the Italian population is aging. And this implies higher costs. Switzerland, for esample, is much more similar to the USA, because they also have insurance companies, but it is a rich and not very populated state. So nobody there has any problems. But the USA are like half a continent: it is a big problem to give free to everyone. Every state in the US should start giving at least a basic care to everyone.

  8. Wow... great memes, all. Stephan hit the nail on the head. Very sad. I would retire today, if I didn't need the health insurance.

  9. We can scream these very true, very logical things until we're blue in the face but so long as insurance corporations are wealthy enough to be able to afford lobbyists who can effectively pay off corrupt Washington politicians (Read: Most of them), then NOTHING will get done. NOTHING.

BtW, a good gauge of how nicely these insurance companies are cleaning up is the amount of advertising time they've been scooping up. I challenge you to find a single Prime Time (or ANY time) three-minute ad block without at LEAST one lengthy, expensively-produced insurance ad in it. (I'm lookin' at YOU, Flo.) Those things cost a fortune to produce and even more to air. Where do you think that money's coming from?

    Thanks, Rick.
