2021.0815.0001...
I ran across the above image and had to do some investigation. Lo and behold, there's an entire world gone mad with these things...
Those largest crosses in the world is quite interesting. Many are in USA but here in Montreal we have our 31,4 m high cross in the mountain in the middle of our city.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Royal_Cross
It was constructed in 1924 and is a reminder of that wooden cross our city founder Maisonneuve had put there in 1643 to prevent a huge flooding.
Today, that cross is more a historical item and in P. of Québec the Catholic Church has not much influence in our population.
We are more a civil non religious society and we have banned all religious signs from our public services and government.
Even the cross in our «Blue Room» in our Québec parliment was removed years ago and in law, no one can show some religious signs if working in many public work places.
That made a lot of fuzz when it was adopted by our governement mostly in the Muslims because their women wearing the veil or even the nickab were very offended. Many of those women are teachers or children day care workers or even nurses and by that law they have to choose to get their veil at home of loose their jobs.
God!! I feel ill!! What big ass crosses. Some of those on big mountain top ones could be disguised as communication towers. You know The government is listening.
Yesterday, I passed a church here that had recently completed a lengthy and expensive renovation for which they had been petitioning their congregation and outside donors for many years now. And, as I passed, I saw that someone who worked there was in the process of shoo'ing away two or three homeless people who had sought temporary respite on the church steps. Not directing them to shelters or offering them any other kind of assistance but just telling them to beat it.
What's the point of building a luxurious, state-of-the-art palace for the worship of Jesus if you have absolutely no interest in any of the most basic ideals he stood for?

Again, religion is a burden on freedom for ALL.
