This stuff about the Bible is so right. That book was written in times when the people was shepperds and no educated.
And the women side, slave etc is so outdate now.
Why are those Evangelicals still want to take it as it is. Well it's because they only take what suits their agenda and it only shows how biggots and narrow minded they are.
When I «try» to look to «Fuck News», I can see how DEAD they are of not wanting to put just a bit of fairness or fact checked comments on their shows. Thomas Paine is right. This is also applying on all those Qanon worshipers and now, they are in deep shit because with Bidden in office, the lies of DJT is making no more sense...

We use to say un French that religion (no matter which one) is the opium of the people.
We in Province of Québec had banned religion (Catholic one) from all the schools, public places and even in our government places and policies.
We have a historic of being ruled by Catholic priest in our past and since the 60's after what we called the «Quiet Revolution» we got free from any religious lobby.
Even now when some ultra religion muslims tried to overcome our laws to replace it by their shariah law fot them, the government just said «NO WAY».
You live in Canada so you go by OUR laws.
It's more than time that USA get rid of those ultra Evangilicals and other religious extremist that are influencing politic and politicians.
As usual, money seems to be the main religion of USA.

I'm always astonished by christians whose most beliefs are all based on gospels written down so many years - if not centuries - after they were presumably taught by apostles and then orally passed on during generations.
How can they not think about all the doubts the whole process generates?
How can they not even know that the Bible, as a set of rules for the church, was ordered by roman emperor Constantin (starting with council of Nicea in 334 A.D.) who gathered the existing bishops of the time, locking them up until they came up with a montage of gospels that would eventually satisfy the Empire vision as to how this recent monotheistic religion would serve its political purposes?
But then again, it's way easier to teach catechism through simplistic stories full of mysteries and wonders, is it not?
As for me, Tolkien's trilogy is as much full of teachings, ways to dream and set one's imagination free. All that without pretending being the truth at any point, thus never disappointing its readers while often helping them grow.
