Kimmel writer tweets amount NRA has given lawmakers in response to shooting prayers

A writer for "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" is calling out lawmakers for the money they've taken from the National Rifle Association (NRA) in the wake of a mass shooting at a South Florida high school.
Bess Kalb on Wednesday responded to tweets from multiple GOP lawmakers expressing their thoughts and prayers after the shooting by tweeting the amount of money they have taken from the NRA, The Huffington Post reported.
"This is not a political issue. This is not a Constitutional debate. This is a pandemic that's killing children," she tweeted Wednesday.
"And it's perpetrated by hypocrites who preach a doctrine of 'life' but take money from a profit-driven gun lobby."

How about better mental health care? I'm not condoning his actions but his mom died of a heart attack 3 yrs ago & his dad died last Thanksgiving. There were signs this kid needed serious help.

No, this isn't "mental health" either. Regardless of his father dying years ago, and his mother dying this past November. Depression? Of course. These kinds of anger issues? No.
The senator from Conn said it best: The US is the only country where this happens. The only one. Members of both chambers of our federal legislature are complicit - particularly the ones who take millions from the NRA and offer the solution of "thoughts and prayers" for the 18th - 18th!!! - time since Jan 1.
Both are right.
ReplyDeleteWho are the Board members of the NRA? Time to call them out. Who are their apparatchiks that write "suggested" legislation at the state and national level for our legislators so they don't have to work or think for themselves or us. Time to call them out as well.
Time also to detail who the major donors to the NRA are.
The Electorate needs to know!
