  1. The "SWhine" cartoon is pretty good! Thanks for posting it, Rick.

The "anti-vaxers" are considering only THEIR particular family in their orientations. As the nation's military are WORLD-WIDE in scope and nature, there IS a reason that THEY must get vaccinated to protect them from medical perils in other parts of the world. Otherwise, they could easily fall victim to things they had no immunity for! Diseases which CAN also travel into this country incognito! Same for people just going overseas for other civilian trips and such, too.

The anti-vaxers will quickly state that they are staying in their own 5-county area, so they don't need all of those vaccines. Yet they have NO control of those "foreign diseases" coming to THEIR area, by their many means of transmission.

Ask ANY "military kid", who grew up in the 1960s and their family travelled with their enlisted parents to overseas duty stations how many vaccines they received as a result of those travels? MANDATORY vaccines, too! And they lived to tell about it and grow old. Or the 80 year old veteran, for that matter?

Which should prove to "educated people" that vaccines are not the really big boogey-man some perceive them to be. No autism, either.

As for "religious reasons", to me, the Good Lord gifted all of us with GUMPTION. Or a feeling of when we should do something to PROTECT our own health and longevity. Which CAN over-ride other edicts of former times. The gumption to change course when something is not working in our lives or work. Same outcome, different route to get there. The old "trust your gut" or endure the consequences rather than benefits of the different course.

In SO MANY areas, Rs want to do a swift retreat rather than engage in real problem solving to get to where the society needs to be. For the mutual benefit of all, rather than a small minority of the total. Using past experiences and such to craft a way forward into the future, for the betterment of all, period.

Rs like to invent issues, or make small issues into huge ones. Ones which THEY are uniquely positioned to fix. Yet they still do not seem able to really fix them, as the problem they invented grows and gets worse at the same time.

  2. The cartoon is great. I intend, one day soon, to yell out before entering a public restroom, "Hey, I'm going to take a pee. Are there any MAGA who want to verify my gender?"

  3. I'm sure ***someone*** has created an application for State of Texas Genital Inspector." The state is going to need a lot of them!

  4. Years ago and before the life saving miracle of the polio vaccine, my grandparents had neighbors whose son contracted polio at age 7. He lived the rest of his short life confined in an iron lung before he succumbed to a severe stroke from embolisms at age 19.
The anti-vaxxers and their ilk with brain worms can go to hell !
As for the Repubs, granpa always said they never solve problems, they only make them worse and any plans they make if any to solve problems are half baked.
