The ultimate display of malicious compliance on a rule that makes absolutely no sense in an environment where the vast majority of residents use the subway. Love it!
Rules with no reasons given usually result in inventive ways to circumvent them. Ways which the rule maker never envisioned or understood until they saw them happening.
Agreed, Anonymous - while I don't profess to know the inner workings of the minds of a bunch of bureaucrats in the Transit Authority , I do seem to recall a news article about how the MTA was frustrated with people whose dogs were urinating and defecating on the train platforms without being cleaned up (although how they could tell that it was dogs and not homeless people, I dunno!).
As usual, the answer to the issue was the easiest and the cheapest on the city - ban dogs that aren't in bags (where the mess would be contained) instead of finding more practical solutions that work for everyone. Now everyone just needs to make sure to empty their "used" bags on the platforms... 😁
Oh, we couldn't possibly do that here, JiEL! Something that is simple, makes sense and is a regular practice for responsible dog owners happening in the US right now? Perish the thought! 😂

ReplyDeleteIn Montréal metro system (STM) the dog has to be in leach and wear a muzzle. Only one dog by passenger and there is a schedule too to do it.
