  1. Unfortunately, some never have enough wealth

  2. I'm reaching the point where I think we ought to just confiscate their shit, and make them work for $7.25/hr with no benefits for the rest of their lives.

  3. Looks like the 70-90% tax rates spanned up and down economies. I also recall that the IRS was serious about catching "tax evaders", too. KEY thing would be what the average tax rate was, after deductions and such, that was really paid. As citizens with money sought to see just how far they could go without getting audited by the IRS. Yes, that seemed to be a "national game" for the wealthy.

  4. People who always complain about "high taxes" are usually in the $400K+ range, it seems. School taxes too high on their $500K home in a gated neighborhood? They chose to live there for the investment potential, probably. Fuel costs too high on their $60K plus vehicles? Insurance going up as their residential value goes up? Tuition at high-level universities for the kids going up (to allegedly pay for the services they provide). OF course, property taxes will increase with their residential value increases. WHO made these decisions?

For their residential choices? The complainers did. As to other increases, the people sitting on corporate and university boards did. FEW Of them will align with "radical socialist" orientations, I suspect. Which means "The complainer's peers" raised those prices independent of whomever is in the White House.

The National Debt is always important, but only when Reoubicans are NOT in power is it a campaign issue, by observation, over the last 40 years! They claim the "other party" spends like "drunk sailors", NOT looking at what THEY do as THEY are of the orientation that ONLY THEM know how to effectively spend money. Yet, look at what happened when Trump was in power! IF Republicans are so thrifty with spending, WHY did they let Trump sweet-talk them into such low tax rates for the wealthy? With the promise that "they would pay for themselves", advocated by an economist from a state Trump dislikes? Looks like they have not or even know how to "connect the dots".

  5. To me, the most disgusting and outrageous and egregious are the billion-dollar profits of those two health insurance companies. They profit from people's illnesses, injuries, and misfortunes as they deny coverage to help people get better and recover.

  6. Funny how the tax rates were also very high under Eisenhower, Nixon and Ford, and from 1946-1952 when Republican controlled congress. I rather have my taxes go to help the poor on welfare and struggling workers than multi-billion-dollar businesses and billionaires. You always hear Republicans go on how great the 1950's were but look at those tax rates, they would cry a river today. Then they complain about ever rising property taxes which are based on a home's value, and they did it to themselves with rampant property speculation that is raising home prices to unprecedent levels and leaving more people homeless and desperate.
I had a well to do uncle that despite the heavy tax burden still managed to live in very nice homes, drove his beloved Cadillacs and enjoyed fine dining. All the while lamenting the careless speculation of commodities and property in America, which he felt would lead to America's financial collapse as it did in the Great Depression, only worse. :( -Rj
