2023.0425.0003...

Jerry and I like to listen to the local jazz station during dinner and the other night the DJ mentioned Ricky Nelson for some reason. That led us to talk about the Ozzie and Harriet Show. The next day I ran across this "tell-all" kind of article about the show and the family. (Who says Google isn't listening?) It's a bit long...

Behind the Scenes of America’s Favorite Sitcom From the '60s: The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet

(There are quite a few images of David and Ricky, too.)

  1. This certainly brought back the memories of watching the Nelsons on TV for all those years and the tragic plane crash that cut Ricky's life short. Knowing I wasn't the only one, I had the biggest crush on Ricky, especially during his teen idol years and later when he matured into the long-haired hottie with the sparkling eyes and pouty lips. I swoon. But damn, that website was a mess to navigate with the plethora of ads and a persistent Malwarebytes pop-up that made it necessary to start over at the top of the story each of the 20+ times that happened. Made it through to the end though and knew that the Nelsons weren't the family they portrayed themselves to be. The one foot hanging out of the bed firmly planted on the ground(Hays code) just cracked me up. It was like they didn't want any of us in the 40s and 50s to know that 2 people did sleep in the same bed because that's where babies come from. LMFAO

  2. We watched that show a lot. My sister had a crush on David. Silence was enforced so she would not miss a word he spoke.

  3. Milleson - I was annoyed by all of the ads, too, but didn't have that problem as you did. Sorry.

  4. Thanks for posting that link and the items on The Nelsons! We always watched them ln TV. Kind of funny how Ricky grew chest hair as he matured, but everything was "buttoned-up" for the show. Then there was the time where Ricky and David were circus trapeze artists, in skin-tight outfits. A shot of Ricky in a 1970s swim suit, too. "Hair bear" he turned into, to match his full head of sexy hair.

One of Ricky's last songs, "Garden Party" was about how the mainstream music people didn't feel he was legitimate, being a "child star" and such. Then the plan crashed on his way to a gig in Dallas, TX. A loss for us all.

    Thanks for posting that link!
