Education is a real issue in USA. While talking to a good friend of mine who is a retired teacher I know how low he was paid to teach in some states of USA.
ReplyDeleteAlmost a half of what I was hearning here in Montreal and not even with the benefits attached to my work contract. We have a very good teacher's union and the negociations from 4 years to 4 years have given us good wages and good benefits. Many years ago we even had a salary ajustement as most of the teachers are women, so they ajusted to the same «man» salary in other professions.
The base in education is to have good teachers and put in the teaching curriculums all what a child has to know in his adult life.
History is to me one of the most important learning to give.
Knowing where you come from and the history of the world and your country gives you a good perspective to have a productive and sane adulthood.

ReplyDeleteEducation is in horrible shape. Ours has gone from #2 in the nation to 48th. You know things are bad when states like W. VA, GA, MS, and KY are ranked higher.
