LOVE these old metal staircases! I hope this one can one day saved and be re-used.
ReplyDeleteAs you call it, I'm "repurposing" a couple of these for an upcoming "A Certain Aesthetic" post.
ReplyDeleteLaurent - I really like that spiral staircase also. I'm afraid, though, that it's being left to rust.
ReplyDeleteMost of these were made in cast iron upon which is quite resistant to rust. Pipes in this material can easily resist a hundred years - depending on the quality of their alloy.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the sooner this staircase is salvaged the better.
Laurent - I adore men who are as knowledgeable as you. *blush*
ReplyDeleteNerd time. Terry Pratchett series Disc World. University of Magic. That staircase from the library. LOL.
ReplyDeleteOne of them likes the house from The Munsters!!
ReplyDeleteUnknown@2:07pm - That staircase reminds me of "The Haunting" starring Julie Harris.
ReplyDeleteAnon@2:37pm - I *think* it's actually an abandoned asylum *maybe* in France. I'm not 100%.
Adore abandoned places. They all seem to be crying... and have such powerful stories to tell.
ReplyDelete@Rick & Anon: number 5 was the Neo-gothic Castle of Noisy, Belgium, erected in the second half of the 19th century. It was abandoned in the 90s due to sanitary issues. It then slowly became a ruin until it was recently demolished for security reasons. It was used for filming several movies as well as 'Castle Lecter' in the Hannibal series.
ReplyDeleteLaurent - Thank you for that information. I knew I had a folder of that place and you helped me find it.
